01 October 2021 – In the recently concluded Knowledge Forum 2021: Learning Through Change organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Dean of the DAP Graduate School, Dr. Lizan E. Perante-Calina served as one of the knowledge experts in the special session on “The UNESCO Futures Studio: Why foresight and futures thinking matters for the knowledge agenda of development organizations?”.

Dr. Perante-Calina shared the initiatives of the DAP Graduate School in introducing futures thinking in the Philippines. She recounted that in a span of a year, the field gained quite a following, not to mention how it sparked the interest of stakeholders coming from different sectors. She also highlighted the value of knowledge co-creation in all these given the power it holds to change certain actions.

In the hopes to democratize futures thinking in the country, Dr. Perante-Calina has taken the lead in embedding futures thinking through education, training, research and advocacy. Indeed, she has turned this vision into a movement and actions on the ground. This pursuit has been lauded and supported by one of the staunch advocates of futures thinking, Senator Pia Cayetano who chairs the Senate Committee on Sustainable Development Goals, Innovation and Futures Thinking (SDGIFT).

ADB’s 2021 Knowledge Forum brought together international leaders, industry experts, academics, government knowledge professionals, international finance institution partners to share tools, systems, and processes to improve development work and drive positive change.
