Master in Public Management major in Rural Development
(MPM-RD)

Background

The MPM-RD program is a customized graduate program aimed at forming a pool of ethical and transformational rural development leaders in the professional ranks of the three agencies under the National Convergence Initiative (NCI): Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Agriculture (DA), and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The program also facilitates the process of strategic convergence among these agencies.

Around 400 students graduated from the program which ran for four batches from 2012 to 2018. Implementation was made possible by the Educational Consortium for Rural Development (ECRD) composed of the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), Ateneo School of Government (ASoG), University of the Philippines-College of Social Work and Community Development (UP CSWCD), and Xavier University (XU).

The mode of delivery of the MPM-RD program is blended learning which combines traditional face-to-face classroom with online learning. This approach gives the students the social benefits of face-to-face sessions with the flexibility of distance education, allowing them to engage in a “work-study scheme” wherever they are based
