Welcoming Ceremony and Opening Program of the Master in Public Management for Cabuyao City

The Welcoming Ceremony and Opening Program for the Master in Public Management for Cabuyao City (MPMC) was officially held on the 11th of November 2023 at the DAP Conference Center (DAPCC), Tagaytay City.

Organized by the Health Governance and Social Protection Cluster (HGSPC) of the Development Academy of the Philippines-Graduate School of Public and Development Management (DAP-GSPDM) in partnership with the City Government of Cabuyao, Laguna, the MPMC

The program started with prayer offered by one of Cabuyao’s scholars Ms. Uriel Javier with the Dean of DAP-GSPDM, Dr. Lizan E. Perante Calina, giving her address shortly after. Dean Lizan noted how the program has finally officially started after years of delay caused by COVID-19. She also highlighted the bright future of the City as it invests in its young and talented officials.

After Dean Lizan’s speech, the 25 co-learners of the program were introduced through an audio-visual presentation. Ms. Maria Felicidad F. Billedo, Program Manager of the HGSPC, continued the introductions by introducing the GSPDM.

After the introductions, the Office of the Academy Registrar (OAR) and Academy Library gave out instructions and information that pertains to their admission and stay as students of the program. The offices were represented by Ms. Rhia Alvano-Capinig and Ms. Ma. Theresa O. Javier respectively.

Mr. Mark Rex Jayson Atole, Learning Manager of the Program, discussed the academic and house rules for the upcoming classes the co-learners would participate in over the course of two years. And ending the orientations given, Mr. Carlos Earl Andres Mendoza, the learning associate of the program, talked about the hybrid session guidelines of the program.

The program ended with Cabuyao City Mayor, Hon. Dennis Felipe Hain, delivering the closing address. Mayor Hain echoed what Dean Lizan has said on how the program does not only benefit its scholars but also the city from which they served. They are leaders in training, as they build a new Cabuyao City.
