DAP Graduate School holds MPM DevSec Batch 18A’s Special In-Class Lecture
11 February 2022 - The DAP Graduate School's Security Governance and Diplomacy Cluster (SGDC) conducted a Special In-Class Lecture for its Master in Public Management Major in Development and Security program. It was attended by the student-officers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Dr. Raffaele Marchetti, an Italian national and the Deputy Rector, Internationalization and Professor of International Relations of the School of Government, LUISS Guido Italy was invited to speak on the topic of “City Diplomacy: From City-States to Global Cities”, which is also the title of his book. He started his lecture by challenging the class to update its mental map and reshape its imagery and traditional common sense of reality to be more attentive to the roles of Cities in local and international politics. He discussed the increasing relevance of Cities in global politics as the world becomes more pluralist. He stressed that despite the risk and limitations of City diplomacy, it also brings out opportunities that go beyond business. He gave examples of the role of Cities in security, peacebuilding, and emergency relief. Lastly, he stated, that Cities offer promising spaces to rethink politics, as a counterweight to the dangerous rise of national populism and ethnic discrimination.
Dr. Chester B. Cabalza, Faculty-in-Charge (FIC) of the National and International Security module, facilitated the open forum that followed the lecture. The SGDC Learning Management Team is composed of Ms. Alyn Joy D. Baltazar, Program Manager; Ms. Precious P. Reforma, Learning Manager; and Mr. Christian C. Dolorfino, Mr. Clemente I D. Vergara, Ms. Aya Camille B. Porral, Ms. Hanah Hadaza B. De Ocampo, and Mr. Lawrence N. Llanita.

DAP Graduate School Holds Opening Ceremony for ECPM Batch 2
14 February 2022 – The Academy’s Graduate School of Public and Development Management (GSPDM), through its Security Governance and Diplomacy Cluster (SGDC), welcomed its second cohort of student-officers from the Philippine Air Force Officer School (PAFOS) for its Executive Course in Public Management (ECPM) program.
Dr. Lizan E. Perante-Calina, Dean of the DAP Graduate School, warmly received the 52 co-learners and expressed her gratitude to PAFOS for their continuous support and willingness to partner with GSPDM. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of possessing research and public management skills in bringing about substantive and relevant decisions and actions as public servants.
Ms. Alyn Joy D. Baltazar, SGDC Program Manager, introduced the Learning Management Team (LMT) as well as the program’s faculties-in-charge which include Dr. Theresita V. Atienza, Dr. Mark Joseph T. Calano and Dr. Edgardo H. Pangilinan. Thereafter, Ms. Baltazar discussed the GSPDM online session guidelines followed by a brief expectation setting where co-learners were asked to give their expectations towards the courses and the faculty members.
Mr. Clemente I D. Vergara, one of the learning managers of SGDC, briefed the co-learners on the iGSPDM Nexus of Information Technology and Education (iGNITE), which is the online learning platform for the course. The ceremony ended after a brief photo opportunity.
This twinning program between GSPDM and PAFOS will run twice every year as part of the Squadron Officer Course. ECPM Batch 2 will be conducted starting February 14, 2022 until April 4, 2022. The third batch will open in the third quarter of the year.
