May 7, 2022- "...The knowledge you will learn from this course will be extremely helpful in planning your annual work and financial plan for your health facility; it will improve your capacity for strategic planning for health programs, and help you design your own health communication strategies. I promise you, you will learn a lot, that is if you take this course seriously..." Words of encouragement from Dr. Anthony B. Cu, MPM-HSD, MPH-EOH, CESE, Director IV, Office of the Chief of Staff of the Department of Health, the keynote speaker during the Master in Public Management major in Health Systems and Development Online (MPM HSDO) opening program. Director Cu underscored the learnings and impact of the program on the co-learners’ professional and personal growth. He also shared his experiences with the program and how it helped his career as a public health manager.
The first batch to be publicly offered, MPM HSD has officially welcomed its pioneering batch with 20, healthcare practitioners and professionals, during the Welcome Ceremony and Opening Program conducted by the DAP Graduate School. The co-learners belong to different public and private institutions in the country.
The virtual event was also graced by Dr. Lizan E. Perante-Calina, Dean of the DAP Graduate School. On behalf of Atty. Engelbert C. Caronan Jr., DAP President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Calina warmly welcomed the co-learners to the DAP Graduate School Community. She also highlighted that as a pioneering batch of the online program, she hopes that they can be part of the constituency of healthcare decision-makers and implementers who share a common understanding of the challenges and paradigms of health sector reform and appreciate the realities of reform options.
Following the keynote message was the ceremonial toast and introduction to the DAP Graduate School, led by Dean Calina. Right after were the updates on the students’ requirements by Mr. Anthony Julius Bayona, Office of the Academy Registrar’s Admission Officer; Library Concerns by Ms. Therese Javier, DAP Librarian; Academic Rules by Ms. Nikki Billedo, Health Governance, and Social Protection Cluster’s Program Manager; Online Session Guidelines and House Rules and Expectations Check by Mr. Mark Rex Jayson Atole, MPM HSDO’s Learning Manager; and Getting to Know Activity by Mr. Gerald Macabinquil MPM HSDO’s Learning Associate. The program was officially closed by the DAP Graduate School’s Dean, Dr. Calina.
Prior to the opening program, DAP Graduate School conducted an Orientation Activity for the batch about the iGSPDM Nexus for Information Technology and Education, or iGNITE, GSPDM’s official e-learning platform. The orientation was one of the program’s preliminary activities, which was facilitated by Razza Consulting Group Incorporated, led by Ms. Nina Cerissa T. Soliman, Delivery Manager, Learning Solutions Services, and assisted by Ms. Alexia Torres, Instructional Designer, and e-Learning Consultant. The activity aimed to orient the co-learners on the basic and important features of the platform that will aid them in fulfilling the courses’ academic requirements.
The program officially started its Academic Calendar on May 14, 2022, with PMC 201 Public Management Theories, Practices and Innovations (PMTPI) as its first course. It will run every Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, via Zoom.
MPM HSDO is supervised by Ms. Nikki Billedo, HGSPC Program Manager; and managed by Mr. Mark Rex Jayson Atole, MPM HSDO Learning Manager, and Mr. Gerald Macabinquil, MPM HSDO Learning Associate.
