February 24, 2021 - Fifty-Seven (57) health care professionals successfully completed the Certificate Course on Hospital Quality Improvement (CC HQI) Batch 2 during the Course Integration and Closing Ceremony conducted by the DAP Graduate School, in collaboration with the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health’s (HIGH) Teaching Unit, University of Heidelberg, Germany. The recipients belong to the different public hospitals in the country.
The extensive synchronous and asynchronous sessions which were conducted from November 19-February 24, 2022 aimed to equip co-learners with the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure that health services are effective, safe, and focused on the needs of the patient; offer co-learners the opportunity to analyze the complexity of health systems and how quality improvement initiatives could strengthen health systems; and teach co-learners quality improvement tools and their application to analyzing problems, searching for solutions, and implementing programs in their respective settings.
The virtual event was graced by Dr. Lizan E. Perante-Calina, Dean of the DAP Graduate School; Keynote Speaker Dr. Kenneth G. Ronquillo, MPHM, CESO III, Assistant Secretary for Health Policy and Systems Development Team of the Department of Health; and Dr. Pretchell Tolentino represented by Ms. Anna Leah Dipatuan, Human Resource Management Officer III of the Learning and Development Division, Health Human Resource Development Bureau, Department of Health. Also present were CC HQI Faculty Dr. Madeleine de Rosas-Valera, Dr. Sylvia Sax, Dr. Norma Lange-Tagaza, and Dr. Bien Eli Nillos.
Messages from the co-learners were delivered by Dr. Karen Ashley A. Ma, Medical Officer IV, Bukidnon Provincial Hospital - Manolo Fortich, and Dr. Judy Q. Opao, Medical Officer IV, Bagong Cainta Municipal Hospital. where they emphasized that Quality Improvement (QI) initiative does not have to be big and that it can be applied in their everyday duties by focusing one’s mind on achieving quick wins. They added that learning does not stop at every end of classes/lectures, just like QI, it is always continuous and what they have experienced was just the beginning. Also, the course allowed them to feel and see the realities that they are facing and that the lessons were timely and effective especially in their roles as deployed specialists. Lastly, according to the learners, there is no “I” in teamwork and improvement begins with the letter “I”, it must begin with themselves.
CC HQI is supervised by Ms. Nikki Billedo, HGSPC Program Manager; and managed by Mr. Mark Rex Jayson Atole, CCHQI Learning Manager, and Mr. Gerald Macabinquil, CCHQI Learning Associate.

March 1, 2022 - The DAP Graduate School, through its Sustainable Development and Regional and Local Governance Cluster (SDRLGC), conducted its Opening Ceremony and Orientation for the pioneering batch of the Certificate Course on Public Finance and Budgeting (CC-PFB) composed of one hundred sixty-six (166) co-learners from different organizations.
Dr. Lizan E. Perante-Calina, Dean of the DAP Graduate School and Atty. Engelbert C. Caronan, Jr., MNSA, President and CEO of DAP, both gave their warm welcome to the pioneer batch. The invited Keynote Speaker, Usec. Kim Robert C. De Leon of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and Alumnus of the Executive Course on Leadership, Innovation, Communication and Knowledge Management (CLICK), extended his support to the program and emphasized the relevance of it by saying that public finance and budgeting are crucial in good governance, economic stability, financial progress, and overall nation-building.
After the keynote speech, Ms. Celine Grace M. Abella, OIC Program Manager of SDRLGC, awarded the Certificate of Appreciation to the Keynote Speaker. The Program Overview and Online Learning Guidelines were discussed by the CC-PFB Faculty-in-Charge, Prof. Sheryll Grace G. Aromin and CC-PFB Learning Manager, Ms. Rochelle A. Cruz respectively. As an introductory activity, the co-learners were tasked to lay their expectations on the course.
CC-PFB is headed by Ms. Rochelle A. Cruz, CC-PFB Learning Manager, with the assistance of Ms. Gemalyn G. Sabayo and Ms. Xyza D. Temanel, CC-PFB Learning Associates.
CC-PFB becomes one of the most highly anticipated certificate courses offered by the DAP Graduate School. The first batch will run from March 2 to March 25, 2022.
