28 March 2022 - The Security Governance and Diplomacy Cluster (SGDC) conducted an In-Class Special Lecture for its Master in Public Management major in Development and Security with specialization in Maritime Safety and Security (MPM DevSec MSS) Batch 2 program under its PCG-221 National and International Security module–the first specialized major course of the program.
Ms. Paulina Izewicz, a Senior Research Associate at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS), Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, California, provided a lecture on “Nuclear Non-Proliferation” which included the following topics: nuclear weapon materials, weaponization, testing, and delivery systems; the consequences of a nuclear explosion; nonproliferation and counterproliferation of nuclear weapons and its maritime sanctions.
This In-Class Special Lecture was particularly arranged by the module’s Faculty in-Charge, Prof. Julio S. Amador III aligned with the course objectives of analyzing ongoing security crises, evaluating current Coast Guard mechanisms to address these security issues, and developing alternative mechanisms for conflict prevention and crisis response.
The MPM DevSec MSS Batch 2 is a twinning program between the Development Academy of the Philippines - Graduate School of Public and Development Management (DAP-GSPDM) and the Coast Guard-12 Education and Training-Philippine Coast Guard (CG12-PCG). It is managed by the Learning Management Team from the SGDC composed of Ms. Alyn Joy D. Baltazar, Program Manager; Ms. Aya Camille Porral; Learning Manager; and Ms. Precious P. Reforma, Ms. Hanah Hadaza B. De Ocampo, Ms. Christine Iriss B. Issip Mr. Clemente I D. Vergara, Mr. Christian C. Dolorfino, and Mr. Lawrence N. Llanita.
