February 11, 2022 - The DAP Graduate School's Security Governance and Diplomacy Cluster (SGDC) conducted a Special In-Class Lecture for its Master in Public Management Major in Development and Security program. Through its GSC-227 International Relations and Geopolitics module, the co-learners had the opportunity to listen to lectures provided by foreign security experts from the academe and reputable research agencies.
Dr. Satu Limaye, the Director of East-West Center, Washington DC, delivered his lecture titled “Geopolitics of the Indo-Pacific: US Perspectives”. He gave an overview of the current geopolitical situation in the area, and how he perceives the reasoning behind the actions of the major players such as China and the US in the Indo-Pacific region. He outlined the major competitions ongoing in the region and how it affects each actor. He concluded his lecture by stating that the US-China’s competitive relations and the battle of narratives, the US remains as a beacon of opportunities and maintains good relations with its Asian partners. Dr. Limaye then actively answered the questions raised by the co-learners regarding the current situation and prospective future of the Indo-Pacific region.
The module’s faculty-in-charge, Professor Julio S. Amador III, invited Dr. Limaye to give the special in-class lectures to further enhance the module’s topics to broaden the perspectives of the co-learners and impart to them a global view of some pressing issues in world politics.
The MPM DevSec is a twinning program aligned with the Command and General Staff College (CGSC) that seeks to build students’ competencies for them to become effective and efficient officers for strategic levels of command and staff positions in the AFP within the overarching framework of development and security. The SGDC Learning Management Team is composed of Ms. Alyn Joy D. Baltazar, Program Manager; Ms. Precious P. Reforma, Learning Manager; and Mr. Christian C. Dolorfino, Mr. Clemente I D. February 11, 2022 - The DAP Graduate School's Security Governance and Diplomacy Cluster (SGDC) conducted a Special In-Class Lecture for its Master in Public Management Major in Development and Security program. It was attended by student-officers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines as part of their GSC-227 International Relations and Geopolitics module. The co-learners had the benefit of hearing a lecture from one of the premier foreign security on the South China Sea issue.
Mr. Gregory Poling, the Director of the Asia Maritime Transparency Initiative, at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Washington, D.C, delivered his lecture on “The South China Sea Dispute”. As a leading expert on the topic, he gave an overview regarding the disputes in the contested waters. Mr. Poling went on to discuss the current Chinese action in the region and then answered the questions raised by the co-learners.
The distinguished speaker was specially invited by the module’s faculty-in-charge, Professor Julio S. Amador to give in-class special lectures in line with the module’s topics in an effort to give the co-learners a different perspective regarding these issues and impart to them a new vantage point in viewing world and regional politics.

February 3, 2022 - The DAP Graduate School's Security Governance and Diplomacy Cluster (SGDC) conducted a Special In-Class Lecture for its Master in Public Management Major in Development and Security program. As part of the GSC-227 International Relations and Geopolitics module, selected student-officers from the Armed Force of the Philippines, had the privilege to listen and convene with foreign guest lecturers from various security research organizations and the academe.
Dr. Chiew Ping Hoo, a Senior Lecturer in Strategic Studies and International Relations at the National University of Malaysia (UKM), delivered her lecture on the “Geopolitics of the Korean Peninsula”. She gave a brief history of the Korean conflict and the “Korea problem”. She then went on to give the contemporary situation of the peninsula amidst the provocations of North Korea and updated every one of the geopolitical developments in Korea. After her lecture, Dr. Hoo graciously answered the questions and concerns of the co-learners regarding the issues in the Korean Peninsula.
The in-class special lecture was made possible by the initiative of the module’s faculty-in charge, Professor Julio S. Amador III, in inviting distinguished experts to share their knowledge and experience with the goal of broadening the perspectives of our co-learners in line with the module’s objectives.
